Fan-run · Northern Irish · Fully committed

Our culture. Our signal.

We’re a ragtag crew of quizmasters, tech-heads, cosplayers, gamers, film buffs and comic hoarders building the nerdy Northern Ireland we all deserve.

Our story

It started with a room full of people who needed a reason to meet.

After the pandemic, Northern Ireland’s nerd communities felt more scattered than ever. Founder Callum Janes started the Belfast Nerd Pub Quiz as a practical answer: create a night built around the things people genuinely loved and give them somewhere to celebrate those interests together.

It took off. The demand, the costumes and the atmosphere made the next step obvious. NerdyNI grew from one quiz into a wider mission: produce events, report on the scene and make it easier for people across Northern Ireland to find their way into it.

Big cities don’t own the culture. We’re building our own right here.

What we are here to do

Make every fan feel seen.

From themed pub quizzes to anime nights, community reporting and useful local guides, every part of NerdyNI should help somebody find a thing they love and people to share it with.

01

Create the nights

Recurring quizzes, anime events and community-first formats built around real demand — not generic nights with a nerdy sticker slapped on.

02

Connect the scene

Make coming alone feel normal, help local communities find one another and give good organisers a stronger signal.

03

Tell our own story

Report what is happening, document the people making it happen and create a permanent local record instead of letting everything disappear into a social feed.

Callum Janes

Callum has spent more than a decade turning nerdy interests into work — from large YouTube channels including WatchMojo to supporting major nerd, tech and charity events in Northern Ireland. NerdyNI brings that experience home and points it at what people here actually want.
